Send MessageYouth populations are consistently under-represented in local and national decision making in spite of making up more than half the population in many developing countries; Nigeria, Chad, Angola, Mali, Somalia, Gambia and Zambia all have over 50% of their population under 18 years of age. U-Report addresses issues of missing youth representation in decision making at both local and national level.
UNICEF and partners have developed U-Report is a messaging platform for community participation, designed to address any issue that affects children and young people by either collecting information directly from them or their parents to improve policy and programmes or by directly providing life-saving information to the most vulnerable in a timely way. The platform currently engages more than 8 million people in 65 countries holding local authorities accountable to their youth populations.
