Gambia (pop. 1.8M) is a youthful population with more than 75% under 35 years. Youth unemployment is estimated to be greater than 60%. With such a high unemployment rate, it is important to encourage and inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship among young people. Startup Incubator Gambia support young people to establish viable and long-term business ventures.

The key objectives of this project are,

To reduce the rapid urban drift. The majority (at least 60%) of Gambians live in the rural communities. Encourage young urban dwellers to become self-employed and subsequently create employment for least fortunate ones. To teach youth to appreciate success and embrace role models for them and others to look up to.

Innovation Description

The Startup Incubator Program is designed to support the successful development of young Gambian entrepreneurs through an array of business support services and resources, developed and orchestrated by incubator management and offered both in the incubator and through its network of contacts. Successful completion of the Program increases the likelihood that a business will start and stay in business for the long term.
