The hybrid white sorghum variety (K9058) developed through SMIL research in partnership with the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR) has a high grain yield (14% over the hybrid check and 24% over the best open-pollinated variety). This hybrid white sorghum has excellent grain quality for food products such as injera. It demonstrates better performance, is uniform, and is stable in areas where moisture is a limiting factor. Release is planned for lowland dry areas of Ethiopia.
