Over the next ten years, 8 Million children will die as a result of enteric and diarrheal diseases, caused by poor hygiene. Those who survive, face repeated infection, which can lead to serious health problems. Most of these cases happen among deprived communities in developing countries. According to The World Bank reports, more than 2 billion people don’t have adequate access to hygiene and sanitation.
According to WHO hand hygiene reduces up to 50% of infectious diseases incl. pneumonia & diarrhea diseases which are the 2 major reasons to death among children under 5. Soapy is a connected hygiene micro-station powered by proprietary soap capsules, capable of producing an accurate dose of soap&water(reducing consumption by 95%). Our hygiene station generates a powerful IoT grid, enabling cities and organization to morph sanitation consumption into life-saving data science.
We have prioritized installing our units in schools and health centers in marginalized communities. The primary beneficiariesare the children than their mothers, followed by their families and community members.
Furthermore, better healthmeans better education and house income which impact the local economy, according to the World Bank Report, 1$ invested in sanitation and hygiene return a minimum of 5$ to the local economy.
Mission and Vision
Poverty is both a cause and a consequence of poor health. Poverty increases the chances of poor health. Poor health, in turn, traps communities in poverty, delays personal and community development reduces the chances to get education decrease income, effect gender equality and much more. We aim to help to break this vices cycle. We believe that one way to do it is by providing everyone access to basic hygiene & sanitation, no matter where they live.
We have two main innovations which we developed - Technology and Functionality of behavior:
Soapys connected hygiene micro-station (EKA system) powered by smart-capsules capable of producing an accurate dose of soap & water. EKA station extracts water from the humidity in the air, mixes it with a unique soap formulation and provides a constant flow of safe water to wash hands and face. With EKA technology, we reduce 95% of water consumption required for hand washing practice.
The functionality of behavior:
One EKA system can create a safe and sustainable hygiene environment for 200 children every single day and allows them to wash their hands at least three times a day during their stay in school. Eventually, this will lead the way to a fundamental change in the hygiene habits, reduce the numbers of those contagious diseases, and save lives. The system designed to overcome ritual resistance and support by positive feedback the hand hygiene practice. The user interfaces facilitate the good hygiene habit formation.
