Stage 3: Proof of Concept
We developed a framework analyzing gaze and its behavioral patterns in a classroom and modeled a gesture triggered interactive gaze alignment system that provides the viewers with an appropriate perspective of the distant participants to the viewers.

Solves the problem of gaze alignment during interactions in a classroom
We have architected a media rich environment with a system of cameras and display units that dynamically maps capture perspective of distant participants to render a gaze aligned perspective to the viewers. This classroom also has a gesture interface that provides a natural real like interaction interface where a tracking system monitors for gestures such as handraise, finger point etc.

Classical gaze alignment solutions focus on simply eye-contact. Literature reveals finer levels of gaze alignment such as gaze following and gaze awareness enhancing the feeling of inclusiveness in a part of the global classroom. Our system provides methods to render gaze alignment over these finer nuances. This reduces the cognitive load on the users end in discerning the "entity-at-focus" at any particular point in time during the lecture.

The Team Behind the Innovation
This project is headed by a world renowned leader "Mata Amritanandamayi Devi" who has done numerous charitable activities and is the recipient of the "Gandhi King" award. Under her leadership and guidance, this project prototype was successfully implemented.
The project PI is Dr Venkat Rangan and the Co PI is Prof. Balaji Hariharan. The team also consists of two PhD students viz., Mr. Ramkumar N and Uma Gopalakrishnan.
