Gender Equity, Technology and Education
Gender Equity, Technology and EducationSEE LESS
The hi-tech industry is one of Israel’s leading economic growth engines, yet over the past decade, we see a severe lack of technological personnel and software programmers in particular. Hi-tech companies are struggling to find tech professionals, and at the same time women are significantly underrepresented in this industry: only 30% of hi-tech workers are females, and they comprise only 23% of tech professionals and only 16% of tech management (Israel Innovation Authority, 2018).
The lack of technological personnel goes hand in hand with our goal to reach 50% female software engineers in the Israeli hi-tech industry. As part of our strategy, a major emphasis is put on teaching programming languages in high demand in the Israeli job market. This helps to reduce latent recruitment barriers such as gender, or the lack of an academic degree. Additionally, we are continually partnering with leading hi-tech companies in order to develop desirable content.
