We are aiming at economic empowerment of the youths and women in the urbans & rural communities, our social business model will allow us to make easy expansion to new areas and integration of the local community in malaria preventative methods in form of causing awareness and supply chain distribution thus creating social impact investment so as to reduce poverty as malaria is always associated with poverty. In summery the mosquito repellent oil innovation is causing a positive impact such as; improved health, poverty reduction and social-economic development.

Problem

Malaria is global concern which has no vaccine whereas it is associated with death, poverty and stagnant economy, malaria cause the highest deaths in the Sub-Saharan Africa including Uganda, According to the Ministry of Health malaria kills 100, 000 per year mostly young children, pregnant mothers, elders and the vulnerable, lack of malaria sensitization & knowledge of preventative methods are still a challenge in the rural communities due to misunderstanding of the disease.

We need see a malaria free world. Roperfree Mosquito Repellent is creating a positive impact in saving lives. Our social business model is creating employment via chain of distribution. Malaria sensitization in rural & urban centers is vital whereas income from sales of Mosquito Repellent is invested back & looking for new markets to lower down the price to be more affordable & Now we are supplying major supermarkets & pharmacies in Kampala.

Target Beneficiaries

We provide an organic mosquito repellent from herbal essential oils which do not required complimentary application to be used & could be used anywhere without limitations whether someone is traveling, sitting or working with projection of becoming household products which saves lives. Malaria awareness campaigns & integration of rural community herbal growth for oil production supports both awareness and economic independence,children will not miss out education for better economic growth.

Mission and Vision

We are fighting to eradicate malaria in Uganda & a social Business Model of Roperfree aims by cutting malaria 50% in the first 5 years targeting mainly the vulnerable group in rural & urban areas such as; children below 5 years, pregnant mothers, the elderly, displaced people- As the application of Roperfree Mosquito Repellent oil make it easy to be used anywhere without limitations even in places without proper dwelling & water which make it to have a competitive advantage.

Competitive Advantage

Malaria transmission can best be prevented by avoiding mosquito bites. There are about 6 preventative repellents in Uganda such as; mosquito nets, electric coils, candles, chemical oriented sprays and soaps (lye), Roperfree mosquito repellent is pure natural, organic, cost effective & is one of the best solution of all mentioned above as it does not need electricity, fire, water to work.Bed nets cannot offer maximum protection,only used when sleeping. Demographic social night behaviors of Ugandans is also an hindrance with chemical oriented mosquito repellents both in body application as soap, sprays for clothes & houses are too expensive & target the high end users which prevents the rural community to access them due to the high cost & lack of product knowledge which causes misuse. Candles are very hazardous to use as likely to cause house fires.So our repellent oil offer the best solutions of all mentioned above because it is versatile.

Beside building our customer base, branding, chain of distribution , malaria sensitization, products knowledge & becoming social responsibility organization as we have been doing to cause awareness of our products, We have ventured into another products called Roperfree Aromatherapy which has been doing so well due to its versatile & we started penetrating the global market especially, the North America &Europe using the major e commerce & social media platforms.

The Team Behind the Innovation

CEO & founder Yusuf Kawoya, idea came while doing a Business Marketing Diploma Course at Humber college, Toronto whilst business background & experience in Business & Marketing plus used to fall sick of malaria in my childhood so solution had to be sought.Mona, co-founder & herbalist, Accountant & Business Management + malaria sensitization campaigners; Ritah, Albert & Joshua university students who work for Roperfree & get income to pay for their tuition
