Our Idea is not only innovative, but transformational as well. We use a Solar Powered Cold Storage facility to reduce the use of fossil fuels and the pollution that accompanies it. We also use a Solar dehydrated Fruits Dryer to dry fresh farm produce in order to increase their shelf life, increase revenues, and prevent post-harvest losses. Most importantly, we are also renting our Cold Storage Facilities and our Solar Dryer to small scale farmers or groups of small scale farmers to help them to prevent losses that may incur as a result of farm produce flooding the local market due to oversupply, which most of the times has led to farm produce rotting Our value addition activities have created jobs, and we have developed a Nutritious Banana Flour product that is helping to eliminate Iron Deficiency Anaemia and Vitamin A Deficiaency among Children and luctating women. We also plan to produce pectin Powder out of the mango waste derived from our processing. Through our "21st Century Digital Farmer Program" , we are Integrating African Rural Farming Communities into ICT using a Mobile ICT Center that provides a flexible, two hour per day Agricultural production and ICT Skills training to farming communities, at their location, allowing them time to learn a new skill as they also continue with their normal Social Economic Activities. Please get a snapshot of the program here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7GhkrqeuUg&feature=youtu.be Our eldest learner in ICT is aged 87 YEARS

Problem

A large portion of all fresh produce is lost worldwide after harvest. Losses are estimated at 20-40% in developing countries and 10-15% in developed countries, depending on the crop. In Kenya, About 45% of Rural Smallholder Farmers produce is lost due to post harvest losses and reduced fruits quality. These loses are experienced mainly by small scale farmers, 50.6 % of them being women, who are depended by their families.
