In order for better care to reach everyone, we must redefine who health workers are, rethink where they provide care, and leverage technology tools. Medic Mobile builds mobile and web tools for a new wave of community health workers delivering care in hard-to-reach communities. More than 95% of communities are now covered by a mobile signal, and we can harness this new infrastructure for global health. Community health workers use mobile phones powered by solar panels to guide them as they look after the health of their neighbors. Every pregnancy and every birth are tracked, creating schedules of care shared with staff at the nearest health facility. Nurses can access updates and alerts from home visits. Trainers view performance dashboards during coaching sessions. Information about health services, drug stock levels, and disease burdens for thousands of villages is made available. Using these tools, we can help health systems work better for people. We currently support 9,000 health workers, covering over 1 million families in 21 countries.
