JAAGO Foundation(JF) is the first organization which has used the ICT technology to provide free of cost primary level education to underprivileged children in remote areas of Bangladesh. The Online schooling model is not only overcoming the geographical gap but also the knowledge gap which exists in urban and rural areas of Bangladesh. The online teachers deliver the lecture followed by interactive sessions with the student for every class. The facilitators in the classrooms assist the children during class work and help maintain a disciplined classroom environment. They are selected from the local community who later develop themselves as teachers. The classrooms are connected to JAAGO's Teaching Center in Dhaka through video conferencing technology via the internet. JAAGO uses multiparty interactive and professional video conferencing software, WebEx, aimed at making the process communicative and interactive teaching-learning with virtual presence of teachers with remote learners. The software used contains an interactive whiteboard, slide-sharing, and video-sharing features and combines a sketch-board to acquaint the students with alphabets through just a stroke from the virtual tutor resulting in smooth participation and interaction between the teacher and the students.JF has 12 schools are located in 11 locations; Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Gaibandha, Madaripur, Bandarban, Teknaf, Sylhet, Dinajpur, Lakshmipur, and Rangpur covering slums, hills and river eroded areas.
