Requirement of compact and high efficient handheld wireless devices are increasing tremendously. An optimized antenna system with high gain which can support all mode of communications and can replace multiple antenna units to single antenna.

A new type of antennas are proposed. Multi band operations can be achieved by corrugated ground planes which leads to optimized prototype. Concept of metamaterials are used for antenna design , which again leads to gain enhancement and optimization of the proposed prototype.

Most of the communication systems such as mobile phones and all uses multiple antennas to operate in different mode of communications. Board level design to include all these antennas with our interfering rest of the circuitry is a key problem during optimization of the devices. Power consumption can also be concern.
