Syrian crisis lead to 3.8 million people relocating to Turkey. Even though access to healthcare is free for this population, demand among refugees for preventative care, especially antenatal care and vaccines has been limited. Initial qualitative research indicates that navigating services in a foreign language, livelihood, and uncertainty as to what is covered under their legal status are barriers to health for refugees.
To address these issues and incentivize pregnant women or recent mothers with children to seek preventative care services, the HERA mobile application aims to remind users to seek care while providing the tools and information needed to reduce the number of informational barriers to seeking care.
