Over 3 billion people globally are cooking by biomass or inefficient cooking stoves that release toxic air. This results in 4 million premature death annually. Logging for charcoal is one of the biggest contributors of deforestation. Where firewood is scarce, people fight over the limited resource. Children spend up to 5 hours a day to provide enough firewood for their family, and they end up giving up school. Many women and girls get robbed or raped, even killed, on their journey to the forest.
Heliac Solar Cooker is a 100% clean cooking solution. It is as easy as normal cooking stoves to use. The cooker produce up to 1 kW for cooking and can serve any kind of dish you normally cook with gas or electric stoves. And solar energy is free. Once the cooker is installed, there is no need for fuel. Women and children do not have to spend hours to collect firewood nor walk to fetch cylinders and pellets, and they can save the money for other activities.
