Growsmartt is a social Question & Answer website that connects the information needs of growers, with solutions provided by experts.

Our platform will provide access to a space where food growers can exchange vital information. This centralized online space will be a hub for industry professionals to distribute their knowledge to users. Growers especially women and youth will finally have proper access to this type of information as traditional methods were not inclusive.

Problem

The Tragedy: 850 million people in our world go to bed hungry everyday Studies show that 40% of all food grown globally is loss due to pest and disease. Reasons are: lack of access information that are necessary to control these crop issues. Sadly, youth and women are especially restricted from this. The Challenge: So, at this point, how do we innovate agriculture to improve access to vital information to help reduce losses, increase capacity and attract new participants (women and youth)?

Solution

We have found a solution Its called Growsmartt; a question and answer website(Access) that encourages the agriculture community to talk to each(connect) other and share valuable knowledge (knowledge transfer) with the goal of becoming smarter(empowerment) and more capable (capacity building) of growing food.

Target Beneficiaries

• Women: from English speaking Caribbean • Youth: from English speaking Caribbean

Mission and Vision

We aim the bridge the knowledge gap in agriculture using ICT tools. Our vision is to create an incredible impact on food security by providing trans-formative ICT solutions to women and youth, empowering them to play a greater role in producing food and realizing sustainable livelihoods.

Competitive Advantage

Our solution was born out from actual experiences from farmers. We are offering tools to encourage data driven decision making for a wide community of farmers that have been traditionally left out. We will be using data science to make the most value of information being shared and provide appropriate access to users.
