The invention provides a green technological solution that transform car battery case granules combined in proportionate ratio with groundnut shell flakes into a product that can conveniently complement the provision of wood products and meet the demand for affordable construction materials for core and low cost housing in rural and urban areas, and other emerging industires. This innovative production process mitigate the detrimental effect of burning plastic wastes as well as the energy-intensive process of recycling plastic. The product is produced by combining required quantities of granulated car battery case and groundnut shell flakes at different ratio and densities depending on the intended area of utilization. The two components were premixed and fed into a co-rotated twin-screw extruder/compounder. The extruded strand passed through a water bath and was subsequently pelletized. The pellets were moulded into panels in a hotpress The product is an eco-friendly panel products that can be used in all the same ways as regular panel products (e.g plywood, fiberboard etc) in partitioning, furniture components, interiors and more. The material can be molded into different dimension to suit intended applications, can be machined easily and comes in different colors.

Plastic wastes constitute a major global pollutant of the environment. Millions of plastic items are improperly disposed on a daily basis, creating piles of plastic wastes everywhere which later founds it ways into existing water drainage, waterways and oceans. This state has brought serious damages to local environments around the world in terms of flooding, pollution (water, air and soil) and disease outbreak.

Panel products from recycled car battery case reinforced with groundnut shells will provide a green technology solution that transforms plastic wastes into sustainable panels. This innovative development uses car battery case plastic to produce affordable construction materials that are durable. This innovation aims to eliminate plastic waste deposits in our environment and at the same time also reduces resources utilization in manufacturing and energy consumption. The beneficiaries of the product include farmers (monetary gain from sales of valueless wastes), Industries through the establishment of adaptable technology in production, construction workers, builders, furniture maker and interior decors etc as the products are versatile and can be applied in numerous areas.

The mission is to eradicate the accumulation of plastic waste by converting it to a valuable raw materials that will be used in the production of value added panel products for human consumption worldwide. The vision is to continuously collect and recycle plastic from various sources worldwide until the world is free of plastic wastes deposit.

Competitive Advantage

The products proved to be suitable alternative to sawn timber and other panel products after the evaluation of the strength, dimensional movement and accelerated ageing properties. The panel products use less energy in production, cheaper to produce, better insulation, more durable, recyclable, smooth and fanciful faces and resistant against termite and insect attack.

Development of functional housing units for low & high income earners from the materials.
