45% of livestock in Africa predominantly cattle are susceptible to Foot and mouth disease. We have developed a Footmo Kit which is a hand held device that diagnoses Foot and Mouth Disease in livestock in hard to reach and remote areas.

content in the saliva and body temperature. This is done to assess the specific antibody responses in saliva. The results in real time are then displayed to the farmer on the screen. When the animal is found infected, the farmer reports to the nearest animal scientists or veterinary doctors. The antibodies are detected correlated between the rate of decline of the antibodies titres and the presence of
virus in probang samples.

Problem

25% of Livestock in sub-Saharan Africa die due to Contagious diseases like Mastitis, and Foot and Mouth disease. 65% of livestock in
Uganda predominantly cattle are susceptible to Foot and mouth disease. we developed Footmo Kit which is a hand held device that
diagnoses Foot and Mouth Disease in Livestock.

Solution

Footmo is a diagnostic device that diagnoses Foot and Mouth Disease in livestock with multiple
vital parameters in one test in hard to reach and remote areas. The device is put in the mouths of a cattle and
it detects the disease against the antigen content in the saliva and body temperature. This is done to assess
the specific antibody responses in saliva. The results in real time are then displayed to the farmer on the
screen.

Target Beneficiaries

-Framers
-Dairy co-operatives
-Public-private partnerships
-Local Government.
-Government Sectors like NAADS, Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, and NARO (National Agriculture Research Institution)

Mission and Vision

MISSION.
To Power Livestock Production and Strengthen food Security by controlling foot and mouths disease in Uganda and entire Region.
VISION
To be the most dependable tool for diagnosing Foot and Mouth disease.

Competitive Advantage

Competitive Landscape
Some of the available methods are: virus isolation, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), IgA ELISA and virus neutralization test (VNT)
-Existing solutions like The Elisa method uses blood samples where only an animal specialist is the one capable of doing diagnosis, but
with Footmo Kit, we test antigens in saliva and display the results on the screen, allowing the farmer as well to do diagnosis.
-Footmo kit tests multiple vital parameters, while other methods tests one parameter.
-Existing methods have one time test, but with Footmo Kit, there is continuous monitoring.
-Footmo Kit is more sensitive than other available methods in detection of Foot and Mouth Disease in probang samples and moreover
more easy to perform and less time consuming
