It's a 10-years long program that support all of the engaged groups - parents, teachers, students and business organisations providing the full-spectrum of solutions, incl. teaching digital tools, curriculum, mentorship program, network and conference for the parents, digital and non-digital learning tools for the students, following their emotional development and skill through the different physical age stages. The core of the program is to build the balance. This is the work-life balance, the digital-non-digital balance, the gender balance, the human - technology balance and it's based on a "learning-by doing" projects that put the theory from the textbooks into a real life praxis and habits-forming activity.

Problem

Personal freedom restriction and banning women to work and earn their own money is one of the most popular scenario amongst the women bulled at home. At work, women sacrifice often their work-life balance in order to prove their commitment to their role. Often the justification for this is their lower professional qualification or/and experience caused by the education as woman are pushed to study humanities, but the jobs of the future belongs to STEM.

Solution

DigitalKidZ STEM Club aims to educate in coding boys and girls at the very young age and through game based learning and preferred digital solutions to involve them in mixed-gender group challenges. This demonstrates to them that genders are with equal rights, wishes and opportunities and it's a matter of choice how to use their "super-powers" in order to contribute the society best. Beyond coding the program develops communication skills, self-confidence, leadership and emotional intelligence.

Target Beneficiaries

Children at the age of 5-6, who start to be interested in technology and have to be educated in digital hygiene habits. Primary & Secondary age students - just before the age they choose a high school for further education. At the age of 14 is the first split of boys and girls and "suitable" schools for both genders - engineering and mathematics are the most common choice of the boys (and their parents), foreign languages, literature and art for girls.

Mission and Vision

DigitalKidZ aims to increase digital literacy and adapt the educational methodology according to the 21st century trends – modern, effective and digital-wise. It supports the society to change the mindset about the labor market and opportunities. Now everybody can work remotely and women have the opportunity to increase their income, develop careers and keep the work-life balance, spending more time with their children because of the technologies' advantages and the professions of the future.

Competitive Advantage

Science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics are at the heart of all „jobs of the future.“ Teachers in the program are empowered to transform educational process with a greater emphasis on interactive learning environments, presenting learners with open-ended problems and challenges. Learners may debate and test ideas, work in teams, access online platforms for collaboration. This transforms them into the creators and not just the consumers of tomorrow’s technologies. To complete our digital-oriented approach, we focus on the social-emotional aspect of learning, fostering strong relationships between teachers and students. We help learners apply their informal and non-formal learning to improve educational outcomes.

Planned Goals and Milestones

DigitalKidZ STEM Club program was tested and validated amongst 1500 students at the age of 10 - 16 in 13 schools of Bulgaria. Now we are focused on the elementary school age group who is threatened to become technology addicted even before to learn how to read and write properly. It will be educated via a series of fairly tale books telling the "internet" stories of the DigitalKidZ cartoon characters.
