CORE-Vent takes an alternative approach to a traditional bellow ventilator system.One of the main complexities with modern ventilators is the requirement for a PEEP (PositiveEnd-Expiratory Pressure) to be maintained during the expiration phase – this is basically maintaining a positive pressure so that the lungs do not collapse.

With traditional / existing designs the bellows system isrelatively short in its stroke and usually sized to give a specificvolume eg 1200 - 1600 ml. The PEEP is then achieved by asecondary system usually utilising compresses air or oxygen.This requires complex and expensive valves and monitoringsystem / fail safes.

The CORE-Vent however has a novel approach. By extended the bellows system so that itcan contain up to 8L of air. This allows for a ‘continued’ stroke during the expiration phase thatmaintains a set PEEP. The system can easily and accurately monitor the volume and pressure dueto its positional control and pressure sensors.
