Problem

Significant education inequity exists across India’s massive education system of 1.5 million government schools and 250 million enrolled students. Resources are scarce among such an expansive system, which is especially felt in rural and low-income communities. India’s Department of Education and Literacy reports in rural communities 34.9% of males and 31.9% of females had completed primary level education while only 12.8% of males and 9.6% of females had completed secondary level education.

Solution

e-Patashale Program provides digital STEM curricula in regional languages for schools in rural low-income communities in the form of a low-cost plug n play android mini PC. 80% of rural schools have opted to use televisions for technology-aided learning, as opposed to computers, as the school staff are familiar with televisions. The easy to use learning-box connects to a television thru USB flash drive and provides access to e-Patashale curricula-aligned content in a non-internet environment.

Target Beneficiaries

Practitioners, students, learners in formal and informal education spaces

Mission and Vision

At Children’s Love Castles Trust, we believe that every child – no matter their circumstances – deserves access to a rich educational environment so they can build a wondrous life on their dreams and aspirations. This is the driving force behind our endeavor.

Competitive Advantage

Although education technology is serving the high schools in the urban sector, it has not been able to attract the same in the rural sector. That is our main target segment- that now has the access to the best available learning tools, with seamless technology covering the range and depth of the entire curricula in the learner's own regional language!

Planned Goals and Milestones

To increase this reach, CLT will replicate its successful model for growth by developing community-level partnerships across 10 new states in the next three years, which will mean 5 million new students will gain access to the program. CLT is targeting 10 of the most impoverished states in India where education inequity is felt the most. The existing curriculum needs to be translated into additional regional languages & apps, and outreach, training and engagement across the new states is needed.
