Innovation Description

The Chlorhexidine Navi Care Program (CNCP) is working to reduce newborn deaths in Nepal through the use of chlorhexidine (CHX) to prevent neonatal sepsis. Working with a local pharmaceutical firm and the Ministry of Health and Population, JSI is rapidly and sustainably increasing demand, availability, and use of the product on a national scale. CNCP has scaled up chlorhexidine use at both the health facility and the community level, and will be fully implemented nationwide by 2017.
