Innovation Description

Bula Coffee is the first locally owned and operated coffee company to harvest: process and sell Fijian coffee. They purchase wild coffee cherries directly from villagers: process them from cherry to cup and sell the coffee to stores and cafes throughout Fiji. The company is also exploring opportunities to export internationally. Bula Coffee partners with Fijian villagers: paying pickers individually for their harvest. They also provide training on harvesting best practices and have helped pickers to gain organic certification. In doing so: Bula coffee has managed to transform the previously untapped resource of Fijian coffee into a lucrative revenue generator for Fiji??s regional populations.
