The Amrita Kripa is a crowd sourced mobile application built to scale for thousands of users and millions of requests. The Victims, Volunteers and Officials would install the Android app and register using their Google account. The Victims would click on the button related to their needs. They can request for rescue, medical help, supplies and services. For each of this request they can choose their address. The address is automatically set by GPS, searched from Google, or manually input. The user gives additional details related the request such as number of people, type of medical help, types and quantities of supplies needed etc and submits. Once the request is submitted, it is added to the location summaries and broadcast to all. The volunteers in the vicinity of the victim would get this request on their map screen along with other details on the map interface allowing them to navigate to the victim and help. Once the victim is helped, they can change the status of their request as Fulfilled. This status change is automatically reflected in the summaries and removed from the screens of volunteers. The relief agencies would plan their volunteers, collection and transportation of supplies, medical camps and ambulances based on the real time geographical summaries of various types of requests The volunteers can post their supplies offerings with location, item and quantity details. They can continue to update the available quantities as they get distributed to victims.

Stage 4: Transition to Scale

Amrita Kripa is was successfully implemented during 2018 Kerala floods, during which it was used by many people and helped to reach out to 1000s of victims. We need to introduce to various NGOs and Disaster Relief agencies across the world.

Problem

During disaster the accurate real-time information flow among victims, volunteers, disaster relief agencies is most critical for effective relief efforts. The information should include the location, details of the victims, their needs and their current status for effective action. Often this information is delayed, incomplete and inaccurate. Also there is no effective way to get quick summaries across various regions to plan and organize large scale relief operations.

}

Solution

Amrita Kripa solves the above issues through a crowd sourced mobile and web applications. The victims can request for rescue, medical help, supplies and services. Similarly the volunteers can post the supplies and service offerings. Each request is Geo tagged and time stamped and are transmitted in real time. The requests are summarized by location in real-time to enable large scale relief planning. The victims can change the status of their request to indicate the progress of the relief.

Target Beneficiaries

We aim to serve the Victims by enabling them to request for various types of relief, which can be seen by anyone on the App instantly and come to their rescue and relief. We aim to serve the Relief Volunteers to quickly locate the victims and understand their needs in and around their location, approach the victims and help them. We aim to serve the relief agencies like NGOs and Government to assess the real-time status of relief requirement and operations and enable them to plan at large scale.

Mission and Vision

We want to change the way disaster relief is done. We want real-time information driven relief work to bring victims lives to normalcy as soon as possible. We want bring empowerment to citizens to help their fellow beings in need. We want to develop the sense of community responsibility among the citizens. We want to minimize wastage and maximize benefits to victims. We want to help the Government to plan for effective future relief work based on their performance on the current one.

Competitive Advantage

Amrita Kripa is comprehensive disaster relief application catering to all relief needs such as rescue, supplies, medical and services, which would help the victims to come back to normalcy as soon as possible. It caters to the needs of victims, volunteers and relief agencies. It is supported in all the locations across the world and in 20 languages. It is supported for any type of disaster relief or during no disasters also. It has real time broadcasting of all requests and their updates to all. The real time geographical summaries would be of great help to relief agencies to plan for large scale relief. The volunteers can post their supplies offerings and update their status. It supports offline mode. Requests made during network outage, would be stored and sent after network comes back. Many other innovations either limited to given area, or to a type of relief, in a given language or to either victims or relief agencies. They do not have both real-time and offline modes

Planned Goals and Milestones

We want to release the Apple version of the App. We plan to develop sever new features to the Amrita Kripa. We also plan to increase the awareness of the Amrita Kripa app among the public by working through various NGOs and Disaster Relief agencies across many countries to enable the usage during the disaster. We plan to support the app in many more languages and recruit crowd sourced help for app translation.
