AGROPAD allows farmers to use their mobile phone with or without internet connexion to: remote control irrigation of their farms, obtain meteorological data, from artificial intelligence distinguish plant disease and propose appropriate solutions.

Our AGROPAD project is set up to allow a considerable saving of water resources to allow a sustainable agriculture at all seasons. For this purpose the AGROPAD is designed first to digitize and optimize drip irrigation, it is installed between the water supply system and irrigation piping. AGROPAD irrigates the plants automatically according to the humidity rate, the temperature, the rainfall and the type of speculation (cassava, vegetables, plantain, chilli, cocoa, coffee, pepper ...) It is powered by a solar photovoltaic system that ensures its energy autonomy, the telecommunication function is provided by the mobile phone which monitors the irrigation and the transfer of meteorological data and images of the plantation. We have two versions of Agropad, the first one works only by SMS thanks to the GSM network, and the second one has a premium mobile application usable with an internet connection because we integrate the CLOUD in order to favor the determiantion of the diseases. from plant to be from an image capture or insertion simply.

Stage 3: Proof of Concept

Currently we have finished the software and material design of the AGROPAD, the realization of the prototype is already finished and the tests in the farms are satisfactory, then the mobile phone becomes an agricultural production tool

Solution

Our innovation aims to enable dry season farming, it increases agricultural productivity, promotes an agriculture out of soil, and popularize the NTIC and the renewable energies in agriculture. AGROPAD is an autonomous and intelligent irrigation equipment, it's equipped with a solar photovoltaic system which ensures its energy autonomy, it's piloted and remotely controlled from a mobile phone first through the GSM network and other hand through a mobile application downloadable play store.

With this innovation we want to give farmers the opportunity: - to irrigate large agricultural areas with large quantities of water, which will promote the saving of water resources especially in very arid Sahelian localities such as the extreme north of Cameroon where one dies of malnutrition. - Our innovation is endowed with an artificial intelligence which allows him to determine the disease on a plant image and makes proposals of appropriate solutions inside the mobile phone.

We are made up of a young and very dynamic team of men and women whose age varies from 22 to 35 years old. Our team is multidisciplinary because there are engineers in environment, agronomy, computer science, renewable energy, project planning, financial management.
