The Foundation’s Institutional Grants program has as its goal the creation of effective policy changes to improve the lives of Latin Americans.Work should have a strong public policy component, offer innovative solutions to problems facing these regions, and incorporate new mechanisms for addressing these programmatic areas. The Foundation encourages collaboration among organizations in the United States and Latin America and prefers to fund those institutions that are actively engaged with external stakeholders in addressing an issue of concern. Funding for general support may be considered on a limited basis.

To be considered for a Tinker Institutional Grant, a request must be submitted by an organization with 501(c)(3) charitable status or its equivalent, if the organization is based outside the United States.

The project/program for which funding is sought must be geographically focused on Latin America.

The Foundation will not consider requests for:

annual fund-raising appeals for organizations such as the United Way;
support for building construction or major equipment purchases;
individual research;
funding of health or medical issues;
production costs for film, television and radio projects;
arts and humanities projects, including art museum collections and exhibits; or
Note: If your organization has an open grant, the Foundation will not consider a new funding request from an organization until the funded project has been completed and the final reports have been received and approved.

If you have determined that your institution and project are eligible for funding, the online Tinker Foundation Granting Portal (link is external) will open on Jan 7, 2019 where you may begin the process for consideration of a grant.
