The Programme aims to contribute to biodiversity protection and management of natural resources in line with the basic needs of the local population in the ASEAN Region.The first phase is being implemented in selected ASEAN Heritage Parks (AHPs) of Myanmar and Indonesia, while the second phase is for selected AHPs of Viet Nam. In Myanmar, ACB is implementing the program jointly with the Nature and Wildlife Conservation Division (NWCD) of Forest Department. The selected AHPs in Myanmar are Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park (ALKNP), Natmataung National Park (NMTNP), Indawgyi Lake Wildlife Sanctuary (IDLWS) and Meinmahla Kyun Wildlife Sanctuary (MMKWS).
One of the components of the Programme is Small Grants Programming where ACB provides financial and technical support in developing and implementing projects for biodiversity protection and livelihood in and around selected AHPs in the participating ASEAN Member States (AMS). Through the first call, the Management Plans were developed by WCS for ALKNP & NMTNP, by FFI for IDLWS & MMKWS. And, Law Enforcement and Community Outreach & Awareness were implemented by WCS & FFI through second and third call respectively.
Currently, we are in the fourth call for proposals in Meinmahla Kyun Wildlife Sanctuary (MKWS), one of the selected AHPs in Myanmar. This call for proposal focus mainly for livelihood improvements and mangrove restoration in Meinmahla Kyun Wildlife Sancturary and adjacent areas through work-for-profit endeavor.
