UNESCO’s longstanding commitment for meaningfully engaging with youth has been strengthened over the past decade. Youth are recognized today as a priority group cutting across all the fields of competence of the Organization, as encapsulated in the UNESCO Operational Strategy on Youth 2014-2021.
To celebrate the mandate of UNESCO to build peace in the minds of men and women through education, the sciences, culture and communication and information, this Call is launched by the UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa. It bridges both the International Day of Peace (21 September) and its 2020 theme “Shaping Peace Together”, and the United Nations Day (24 October), the 75th Anniversary of which is observed this year.
Submissions are therefore invited for innovative ideas and proposals in the way youth-led organizations can support UNESCO’s work in any of its five areas of intervention: Education, Natural Science, Social and Human Sciences, Culture and Communication and Information.
