Call for Pre-proposals - 2020 SOAR Grant

The Association of Avian Veterinarians is soliciting research proposals addressing significant areas of need for research in avian species. Following a survey of avian specialists, we established three distinct topics to be covered under this unique grant opportunity:

Specific Requirements and Limitations
No more than three (3) pre-proposals may be submitted per researcher.
For pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies, drugs under investigation must be fully approved for use in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
For prospective live bird research studies involving anesthesia or invasive surgery or surgery that causes a permanent change in the animal, a doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM or equivalent) must be listed as the principal investigator or co-investigator.

Other Requirements

Planned Usage of Funds
Costs such as travel expenses, publication costs, major equipment purchases, and overhead shall not be funded by the AAV. In contrast to budget allowances during our normal grant cycle, investigator, assistant or student salaries can be covered up to 30% of the total amount of the requested budget.
